Are you supposed to put headings like 'Introduction', 'Abstract' etc. in a term paper?

Well this depends on many things. The most important thing is what subject you are doing because different subjects will ask for different things. A science paper is more likely to want headings than an English paper for example. Your course will probably provide a handbook which tells you what they expect from you so I suggest you have a look at that.
